5 Bollywood Movies that were never Released at Box Office

Each year, the Bollywood film industry produces the largest number of movies across the world than any other film making industry. Some of the movies turn out to be blockbuster hits while few of them also become box office duds. While most Bollywood movies manage to do average at the theatres, every year, and a select few movies are also made which never get to see the light of the day, that is, they are never released at the box office for the public to view them. Usually these movies might feature some controversial topics including political divide or plethora of bold scenes. Here are the top 5 Bollywood Movies that were never released at Box Office:

Devaa – 1987

Back in 1980s, the two iconic stars of the film industry – Amitabh Bachchan and Subhash Ghai came together to create a film, “Devaa”. The movie was considered to be one of the most awaited movies of all time but will be remembered for the Bollywood Movies that never released at Box Office as it was spectacularly shelved just one week into production when the two legends clashed with each other over script differences. Although, the pair of them often met pleasantry with each other on award shows on many occasions after that, rumor has it the two decided never to work with each other again after abandoning “Devaa”.

Time Machine – 1992

Aamir Khan and Naseerudin Shah joined hands to create a sci-fi film back in the early 1990’s with director Shekhar Kapur looking to follow his earlier sci-fi film, “Mr. India” with another film of similar genre “Time Machine”. The film also included Rekha and Raveena Tandon in important roles and according to various reports was three-fourth completed before being spectacularly shelved when Shekhar Kapur got his big Hollywood offer, making the movie become one of the Unfinished Bollywood films.

Ladies Only – 1997

Dinesh Shailendra created this unreleased Bollywood movie, “Ladies Only” way back in the year 1997. Starring Randheer Kapoor, Seema Biswas, Heera Rajgopal and Shilpa Shirodkar, the film was based on Jane Fonda’s “Nine to Five”. The movie plot revolved around three young office going women who were constantly harassed by their boss and had together devised a plan to murder him. It was a highly anticipated Bollywood movie that never got released.

Dus – 1996

Mukesh Anand’s most ambitious project involving Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tandon was the movie “Dus”. The movie was based around on Indian special agents Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan who would invade Pakistan in a bid to put a stop to the fourth Indo-Pak war in the country. However, the movie had to be discontinued when the director suffered an untimely death. Although it was one of the Bollywood films that were never released at Box Office, producer Nitin Manmohan released another movie with the same name and also included Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty in the star cast.

Sarhad – 1976

“Sarhad” was supposed to be the directorial debut of J.P. Dutta way back in 1976 but it became known as one of the Bollywood films that never released at Box Office. The movie was based on Indian prisoners of war and included the superstars Vinod Khanna and Bindiya Goswami in the lead roles. Also a very talented newcomer Mithun Chakraborty was also a part of the film. The film was half completed when the producers ran out of money to complete the film production which resulted in other unfinished Bollywood movies that never got to see light at the end of the tunnel.
